EXCERPT

One mountain stood off in the distance. Its peak was the highest. It grazed the heavens. It was the closest point that he could get to his love, now in the inky, deep black sky. It seemed it would be the perfect place to make his presence—and his demands—known. The trip up the mountain took a great deal of the night, his strength had waned, but anger and determination pushed him up to the giant boulder, far above, jutting out into the night air. The moon was beyond his reach—so close, yet, so far away. Swift Foot stood on the edge of the rock. A cool breeze greeted him, brushing softly against his cheek. He felt Shining Star had sent the breeze to touch him. “I am here,” he told her softly, looking up into the sky. Then, he took a deep breath, and announced loudly to the Great Spirit, “I have come to speak to you.” The breeze was replaced with a sudden burst of warm air, an acknowledgement of sorts. He took a step forward, feeling the balls of his feet touch the edge of the rock. He was close now. “You will put me there with her or I will die!” The raw emotion caused his voice to crack, but he knew the Great Spirit heard his demand. A lightning bolt cracked from a cloudless sky in front of him, striking the ground below. No whispering voices came to his mind or thundering ones either. It seemed the Great Spirit wasn’t in the mood for negotiations. It wasn’t the response Swift Foot had wished to hear or see. Still, he stood on the rock, while his love watched him from her place in the heavens. That was just as well, Swift Foot decided. He would be with her soon, with or without any help. He would never spend a day without her. Another lightning strike lit up the sky as he lifted his arms out, and fell…

Excerpt:
Everything happened so fast I couldn’t even react. Stunned, I just stood there for a moment trying to size up my attacker. Before I even glanced up to look at his face I could tell something was off with him, but because of my nervousness, it was hard to tell for sure. He’d come out of nowhere, and if he intended to kill me, I was easy prey.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” a deeply masculine voice growled at me. Fortunately, that same voice helped break me out of my stupor.
I was prepared to see some form of evil glaring down at me, but what I found when I glanced up was definitely not what I was expecting. The handsome stranger staring at me was hot. Not just your average Joe kind of hot. No. This was like the kind of hot that makes a girl want to sin in ways she’d never done before.
His pale skin, tousled, bronze colored hair, and full lips were striking to look at, but his eyes left me completely speechless.
Perfectly round green eyes stared back at me and though they were gorgeous all on their own, it was the few specks of red in his irises that I found beautiful and so unusual. I was left with my mouth hanging open. I’d never seen eyes that color before and no matter how many times my brain yelled at me to look away, I just couldn’t. I was drawn to him. To his unique eyes. To the mystery that shrouded him.
“Are you deaf?” the tone of his voice rose a little more.
“No…no. I-I…was just—” My speech was impaired by his handsomeness and I felt stupid. It wasn’t like he was the first cute guy I’d ever seen. As a matter of fact, I’d broken up with my boyfriend two months ago and he’d been the cutest guy I’d ever seen. Now that this stranger was standing in front of me, I wasn’t so sure anymore.

Excerpt:
Before entering the property, I’d made sure I was protected and no amount of demon magic could’ve bypassed that spell. Unless of course, the demon happened to be hundreds of years old. This wasn’t the case, however— of that I was sure. A demon looking to destroy a witch wouldn’t wait so long to finish her off, especially when she was already down. With that in mind, I lifted my bruised body off the ground and stared ahead of me.
“Well, isn’t that something.” Yes, I was pissed. And yes, I wanted whoever or whatever attacked me to know it, too. “You must think yourself really tough because of that surprise attack. But I’ll tell you one thing, you’re not really original.”
When I received no response, I hurried to add, “Come out and fight me like a man.” I was unsure of what I was dealing with, but aware of the fact that somewhere ahead of me there were a pair of eyes on me. I could feel them practically peeling my skin off. “You want to battle? Then show yourself and let’s get to it! I’m not afraid of you.”
“Go away, witch!”
He knows I’m a witch? How? None of my previous charges could tell and even after I told them who I was and why I was there, they still had a hard time believing me.
“You waste your time by coming here.” That voice was as angry as any I’d ever heard.
“I’m not so sure about that.”
“Get the hell out of here,” the voice demanded.
“And if I don’t?”
“Leave! Or I’ll make you leave!”

Erin Manbeck's GIFTED TRILOGY Blog Tour & Giveaway

Gift of Sight
“Gifted” Trilogy, #1

Feisty, smart mouth Regan thought that breaking up with her boyfriend Sam was going to be the start of her independence.  Instead, she is manipulated and dragged into a world where sharp, sarcastic wit isn't going to save her.  Turning to her Gram for help, the only remaining relative she has, Regan is upset to find out that her grandmother has been keeping family secrets of her own all these years.
With a vengeful goddess using people to try and bring Regan to the Underworld, Gram brings in three Guardians to protect her.  Given the short version of what is expected of her, loaded with a lot of expectations for her future, Regan knows first-hand that life is too short.  She isn't letting anyone make life-altering decisions for her despite finding out that the vengeful goddess has placed a price on her head.
This book will make you laugh, feel connected to the characters, and leave you wanting more.
Warning: Adult language and sexual situation

Available at Amazon

Excerpt:
Regan could tell he was being sincere, but she didn’t care. “You said most of the time, what about the other times? What did you do?” Regan’s questions were being fired out like a machine gun burst.
Jake was definitely having a hard time finding the right words. He went with the honest approach. “Well, on occasion you would just walk out of the bathroom and I would happen to look up and you would be naked. So yes, I have seen you naked. Over the year quite a few times, you really have nothing to be embarrassed about. You are beautiful.”
With a poker face that would have won her millions at the tables, Regan responded, “Take your clothes off.”
“What? Why do you want me to do that?”
“Seriously, it’s only fair. Take your clothes off, every last stitch.”
Jake couldn’t believe what she was asking. “Regan, I am not taking my clothes off.”
Regan screamed into Jake's face, “GET NAKED NOW!”
Suddenly Gram was at her side. “Honey, why are you screaming? What are you getting so upset about?”
Regan never took her eyes off Jake. “He needs to get naked. It’s only fair.”
“Honey, why would Jake need to be naked to talk to you?” Even Gram had a bit of a laugh mixed in her tone.
“Over the last year there have been moments where he has seen me naked. The only way I am going to be comfortable with that fact is if he gets butt naked right now, an eye for an eye, so to speak.”
Piper jumped in to help. “She’s right, Jake. I mean, if someone saw me naked like that without me knowing and then I had to work with him or her, you bet their hairy ass I would make them strip. Come on, Maggie, we don’t want to see that, so we should go back into the kitchen until he is done.”
"You have a hairy ass?" Regan asked Jake.
"No, of course not, Piper is messing around.
"See, the smart money was on yes because then I might have said to forget this whole thing, but since you said no…get in the birthday suit. You’re wasting precious time."

  Gift of Power
“Gifted” Trilogy, #2

Power equals responsibility.
Despite declaring to those closest to her that she will take her position as Queen, Regan’s first priority is not to rule, but to find her parents.  With Jake at her side, she is determined to learn how to use her new powers and hide from her destiny, as well as the Council, a little while longer.
Unfortunately, someone has been watching and reporting every move Regan makes.  She is disheartened to find out the Council is already eagerly awaiting her arrival in Ireland and have apparently started to plan her future…one that does not include Jake.
Regan must decide just how much she is willing to sacrifice to protect her people from a vengeful goddess, while also weeding out the traitor among them.  In the end, will she have the strength to withstand losing any of them?

Available at Amazon

Excerpt:
“When I was in the Otherworld, Agrona promised two things. One, if she gets those long fingers on me she will use me to come back. She swore that if she came back it meant that she would destroy all those I love and care for, and leave no McQuigan linage to remember. Secondly, if I chose not to help, she was going to kill my parents. So you see, no matter what decision I make she will destroy the people I love.
“What would apparently surprise you is that I told her I’m not so selfish that I would put my parents before not only my people, but all of humanity. So, don’t YOU all jump the gun and think you know me as well as you think you do. My life has changed. I have changed. I have new feelings and beliefs flowing through me every second that none of you will ever understand.”
She turned her head slightly and spoke over her shoulder. “For your sake, as well as mine, I will be patient right now. I will sleep on it tonight and hopefully by tomorrow I will have a better grasp on everything that we have discussed, and I’m hoping with your help, I will have a plan.
“Let me lastly remind you, and I’m not trying to be a bitch, but if that’s how you see it, so be it, but the decision I make will be my own. You will choose to stand beside me or you will choose to walk away. Either choice, I will accept without judgment.” She turned back to all of them. “We all have a lot to think about so let’s get some sleep tonight and talk again in the morning.” Regan then walked out of the room and headed for her bedroom without giving any of them a chance to refute what she had said.
That’s right people; I just walked out like a boss!

Gift of Prophecy
“Gifted” Trilogy, #3

Regan’s arrival in Ireland may have heightened her powers, but it has also given Agrona and her minions more cause to make sure she never makes it to her coronation.  With every attack and the harsh welcome she receives from the council, Regan is more determined than ever to prove why the deities have chosen her to be the Queen.
Although, part of her has accepted that she may have to make the ultimate sacrifice, it isn't until Regan finds herself in the Otherworld being handed over to Agrona that the reality hits her.  Will Jake and her family survive without her?

Available at Amazon

Excerpt:
“Stay behind me, all three of you, and that is not a request.”
When Regan had first seen the council members, an image had flashed in her mind.
What the hell, why not?
She didn’t even have to touch the ground to feel the connection.  Everything around her, since she arrived in Ireland, seemed to call to her.  She raised her hands ever so slightly, and concentrated on the level ground that was between her and the stage.  Tapping into nature, she prayed.  “I call upon my abilities and I ask for your help.”
At first there was a small vibration, an effect that had Regan not sure what she was doing, but when the earth before her started to violently tremble all she could think was, “Thank you Danu and Oaky.”
To make sure the council knew her intentions, she spoke loud and clear.  Keep those that doubt me and are not pure of heart from reaching me.
Regan placed her palms together and directed them at the center of the open area.  While visualizing what she wanted, she pulled her hands apart and watched as the ground in front of her slowly started to tear apart.  A large crack appeared in the center of the open area and the ground began to separate.  By the time her arms were spread wide, the fifty feet that had separated her and the stage, was nothing more than a gaping hole that didn’t appear to have a bottom.
Regan, not satisfied yet, continued creating this bottomless pit around the entire stage, until it stood like a lone island in a vast sea, with all of its occupants now huddled together, except for her one lone wolf.  Rewarding him for standing apart from the others, she’d offer him an olive branch, so to speak.
Regan raised her hands higher this time and drew from what remained around her.  Strong roots, embedded in the earthen pit walls, began to come alive.  The once nestled roots pulled away from their home in the dirt, entwining together as they reached out across the chasm.  They continuously stretched until they met their counterpart, coming from the other side.  When connected, what appeared in front of everyone was a small bridge.  “Conall, I offer you this opportunity to join me, since you are probably the only one of the nine that wishes to remain a member.  If you choose to join me, walk across my bridge before I remove it.”
Conall let out a laugh and saluted his fellow council members.  With no fear, he walked quickly across Regan’s makeshift bridge, and with every step, Regan not only saw his aura become brighter, but her trust in a man she had never met grew.  It was unquestionable that he belonged to the light.  When Conall came to the end and took his last step off the bridge, he smiled widely.
Just as she was getting ready to speak, Regan saw the other members starting to make a move for the bridge.  She instantly dropped her hands, in turn dropping the bridge, and leaving them to think about their actions.

Author Bio:
I’m an author in hiding…I still work full time, but don’t ever look over my shoulder to see what’s on my computer screen.  Chances are you will find me secretly writing.
Besides family and friends, I love to laugh.  It may be at the expense of those I love, but they get me, so I usually don’t offend too much.

Honesty…I can’t help it.  I usually say way I feel, but with a little guidance, I’ve learned to be more tactful.
I’ve worked in plenty of environments (trucking company, correction officer and I was in the military to mention a few) so I guess you can say that’s where my mouth and attitude come from.  Either way, as long as I get my morning cup of coffee people are safe.
The Trilogy is complete and I also have a new stand-alone book called “Dreamless”.  It’s a Paranormal Suspense that’s a bit lighter on the language, but will keep you guessing who the Nightmare really is.

Trisha Wolfe's LOSING TRACK Book Blitz and Giveaway @trishwolfe #losingtrack

Losing Track
(Living Heartwood #2)
Release Date: 10/15/14

Summary from Goodreads:
Sometimes you have to lose your way before finding the right track.

The roar of a bike engine. The vibration between her thighs. The feel of cool darkness kissing her skin as she coasts along twisty back roads at night—Melody Lachlan lives for these things. Ever since Mel and her best friend Darla escaped their small, backwoods town, they’ve traveled the countryside in search of fast rides, tatted bikers, and good times.

A self-proclaimed poet and lover of all things free, Mel views her life as one long bike ride—with pit stops along the way to numb the pain. But she never saw herself as a junkie. Party as hard as you ride. That’s her motto…until a tragic night steals her soul. Then she’s forced to delve below the surface, to where her demons rage.

When she meets recovered drug addict Boone Randall, she’s more likely to deck him than kiss his dimple-adorable face. She doesn’t want his help; doesn’t want to own up to her part in that night. She just wants to do her time and keep her promise to her friend. Yet Boone challenges Mel, and soon she doesn’t mind sharing the road. Only when Boone’s own secret demons threaten their newfound, fragile security, Mel’s course becomes rocky, and she must decide if letting her well-worn track marks fade is worth finding a new path.

Told from Dual point of view from Melody and Boone, this is a New Adult Contemporary Romance intended for readers seventeen years of age and older.

“Your friend doesn’t like me very much,” Boone says, interrupting my weird thoughts.
I shrug. “Jesse’s like that. Don’t worry about it.”
“I wasn’t, really.” He ducks his head to find my eyes. “But I am concerned that he seems to think you’re his property.”
My insides rage. “I’m no one’s fucking property,” I bite out. “And you don’t know him. You don’t know the MC. It’s just their way…to like, look out for me and shit.”
Boone holds his hands up in defense. “Take it down a notch, Riz. Not looking for a brawl here.”
“Funny. I thought that was your MO, fight club.”
This earns me a full-on smile, and my anger takes a dive. “Fair enough. Truce?” He extends his hand.
With a forced sigh, I take his hand and shake. But he doesn’t release it. Instead, he subtly twists his hand so that our fingers align, palm-to-palm, then laces his fingers through mine. My traitor heart kicks my rib cage.
“How ill am I going to be watching you out there?” he says.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, you won’t be on a bike you’re used to, right? I’m assuming whoever’s bike you’re going to race is one of the guy’s from down there.” He nods toward the pit. “Not built for a woman.” He eyes me. “A petite one, at that.”
“I resent the fact that you think I’d have to ride a chick bike.”
He looks me over slowly, from head, to body, to toes, sending a flood of new heat everywhere. “What did you ride before?”
I attempt to hide my smile, doing a terrible job. “A Breakout, okay?” His smile widens, and I’m tempted to punch him in the shoulder. “I know…I know. But you have to admit that like, even though technically designed for chicks, it’s still bad ass.” I shrug. “I need a lower model, being vertically challenged and all.”
“I get that. And it is a badass ride. I’m sure it was modded all to hell, too.”
“Damn right,” I add.
“So what are you riding tonight?”
I nod toward the track, to where Jesse is getting ready to take off down the strip. “Forty-Eight.”
Boone’s gaze follows mine to Jesse and his new hog. I take a quick peek at his face, see his brows pull together, before he says, “No. No way.”
“Huh?”
“No offense. I’m sure you’re an excellent rider…but I can’t in good conscience let you drive that beast.”
“It is a beast,” I say, having to agree with him. But then my feminine hackles raise. This is the second time in two days that a guy is telling me what’s good for me. First, Jesse and his jealous ol’ man act, when he reiterated again and again how he didn’t like me hanging out with some backyard brawler. And now, Boone’s laying it on pretty thick. Though in all fairness, I am taking more than a gamble with Jesse’s hog.
“Ride mine,” Boone says.
Surprised, I look him straight in the eyes. “Are you serious?”
A moment of hesitancy pales his face, but to his credit, he checks it quickly. I know how much work he’s put into his Bonnie. And I’m sure he doesn’t trust me enough not to trash it on the track—he’s never even seen me ride.
“I’m sure,” he says. “It’s sits low, and it’s also a bobber, very lightweight. It rides pretty close to a Breakout, and you’ll handle it a hell of a lot better than that tank down there.”
This is actually true. His bobber is customized for speed, and it does sit low, lower than a Breakout, actually. But one thing: “It’s not American,” I say. “I cannot ride non-American.”
He cracks a smile. “How did I know you’d say that?” He gives my hand a pump, reminding me we’re still holding hands, and it scares me a little how right it feels, how normal. “I’m serious, Mel. You need to ride my bike if you’re going to do this. Don’t let your stubbornness get you hurt.”
A few weeks ago, him saying something like that would’ve ended with me telling him where to stick it. That it’s none of his business—which really, it’s not. But as I look down at our linked fingers, then up into his face, the light bruise covering one cheek, the cut above his eye, I know he also understands pain. Stubbornness. Determination. Want, and everything else I battle.
And truthfully, today is not the day I want to end up careening out of control. Whether on the track or off.
“Do you know how special you are, that I’m even offering you the chance to ride my baby?” His hand sends another pulse to mine, and it’s like a lifeline—his energy, his assurance, flowing from him to me.
I don’t think I would’ve offered him the same in return. I know what a huge thing it is to let someone else ride a machine you’ve put so much of yourself into. Really, I could get all misty on him in this moment.
Instead, I palm his large hand between both of my small ones. “I’m going to hear so much shit for racing a Triumph.”
