Shari J. Ryan's TAG Cover Reveal and Giveaway!!!

November 7, 2014

What if your family had a big secret . . . a life changing secret. My dad, the bigwig CIA agent, was always on the run, whether he was being chased or doing the chasing. I missed him. Then my mom passed away, and my sister was murdered. I turned my solitude to strength because the alternative was too bleak.

But my luck seemed to turn: I met Tango. And while I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my twenty-two years, danger lurks around every corner and I simply can’t take the chance of it finding me. But his tattoos, his smell, his darkness, and his body— that marine has taken over my every thought. But, what if he too isn’t what I think? A ticking time bomb isn’t going to leave me much time to waver. Even the bravest person can be in need of a miracle.

Before she was gone, my mom warned me to know everyone and trust no one. But what was I supposed to do when I found out I am the one not to be trusted? Turns out, I was always the bait in this conspiracy.

In author Shari J. Ryan’s New Adult novel, TAG, the canyons hold secrets, the waterfalls provide safety, and romance has a pesky way of showing up when you are sweaty and dirty and least expect it.

Shari J. Ryan hails from Central Massachusetts where she lives with her hubby and two lively little boys. Writing has become Shari’s great escape from the real world over the past few years. After a bout of postpartum depression with her first child, Shari was determined to occupy her brain enough to eliminate some of the blue moments in life. When she found writing to help as a newfound therapy, she started her first book. Her books brought her out of postpartum depression and helped her overcome it when her second son was born. Shari likes to think writing saves her mind. She even used one of the characters in the book (the main character’s protagonist mother), to veer away from the type of person she refuses to become. Shari has two happy little boys and the Schasm series to show for her unorthodox therapeutic method.

In the distance she saw it—the slightest ripple and flash in the forest preserve just across the lawn. She had just walked through there earlier that morning on her way into school. Lil jumped in her seat. No one seemed to notice. Her eyes widened. Just beyond the trees, a figure stood tall in blue jeans and a blue-striped button-down shirt.
Who are you? She shook her head as she glanced back at her English teacher, Ms. Lee. Her back was to Lil, so she shifted in her seat and peered out the window at the stranger not more than a dozen yards away. He approached through the trees until he came as far as the clearing. He leaned his back onto a trunk and nodded toward Lil, just once. Lil pinched herself, making sure she was awake. He gestured for her to come outside, letting her know he was there, for her.

Available here

Author Bio:

Excerpt 1:
Annie’s nose burned with the smell of gasoline.
“Are you okay?” The voice sounded far away.
There was another sound—closer—a rasping breath. Annie opened her eyes. She was in the car. The side of her face was pressed against the window and something jabbed against her right hip. She shifted.
Everything hurt.
Then it all rushed back to her—the argument with her parents—the bright lights, those were headlights—they’d crashed!
“Mom! Dad!” she screamed.
The rasping sound again. It was coming from the front seat. She tried to lean forward, but her hips were pinned to the seat and something pressed against her chest.
Knock, knock, knock. A man peered down at her through the window of the other door. She realized the car was on its side. “You shouldn’t move,” he said. “I called 911.”
Annie heard sirens in the distance. “Mom! Dad!” She worked her arm into position against the door and pushed. A band tighten across her hips. The seatbelt! Her fingers found the button and the restricting band slid away.
The sirens grew closer. Flashing red lights lit up the inside of the car. Annie could just make out the back of her mother’s head and she saw was blood.
She tried to get to her, but her legs were wedged against the back of her mother’s seat. She wriggled and shifted, ignoring the sharp pains that shot through her legs, until she freed one leg, then the other. She grasped the headrest. Her hand slipped off the warm, slick surface. Even in the dim light she could see it was blood.
“Mom!” she screamed. “Dad!”
Another rasping breath.
A new face appeared in the window above her. “Don’t move. We’re coming in.”
The face disappeared and the car vibrated slightly as metal screeched against metal. Slowly, the top of the car was pried away. Firemen surrounded the car. One of them slid a stiff collar around Annie’s neck while a second checked Dad’s pulse, then shook his head. A tight lump formed in Annie’s throat and she felt her chest caving in. She didn’t dare breathe as she looked over at the fireman working on her mom.
“Pulse is thready.” He slid a collar around her neck. “Let’s get her out of here.”
“Annie! The voice seemed far away.

Excerpt 2:
The ground trembled. And with a deafening boom, the school windows shattered. Shards of glass flew toward her. Behind her, Harmony screamed.
And suddenly Drew was there, knocking her to the ground, shielding her with his body as glass pelted the ground around her.
The storm of glass stopped and Annie looked up into Drew’s eyes. “Are you okay?” he asked, standing to his feet.
Annie pushed herself up into a sitting position. “I think so.”
“Stay here,” Drew said, then dashed into the old school building.
“Annie…” Harmony’s voice was weak.
Annie scrambled to her feet. Harmony was standing in front of the car, a piece of glass sticking out of her chest. Annie ran. Her feet moved, but Harmony seemed to be getting farther. And then, she watched in horror as Harmony looked down at the glass.
“Don’t!” Annie screamed—too late—Harmony reached up. Her fingers wrapped around the glass and she pulled. She looked down at the glass in her hand as if wondering where it came from. A dark red blotch spread across her bright green hoodie. The evil-looking shard slipped from her hand and shattered on the pavement. Harmony dropped to her knees. Her eyes met Annie’s for a brief second, before she toppled forward.
Annie reached her friend in time to catch her and lower her to the ground. “Somebody, help me,” she screamed. In the distance she heard voices. “Help!” she yelled again.
Her fingers felt thick as she worked the zipper down and pulled Harmony’s sweatshirt open. Blood flowed from a deep gash just below Harmony’s left shoulder. Annie yanked her own sweatshirt off and pressed it against the wound. Harmony’s face was white. Her eyes were closed. “Talk to me,” Annie cried.
Harmony’s eyelids fluttered open. “You okay?” Her voice was barely a whisper.
Annie nodded. Tears streamed down her face.
“I saw…” Harmony’s voice faded and her eyes closed.
“Open your eyes!” Annie sobbed. “Please open your eyes.”
Harmony didn’t move. The blood soaked through Annie’s sweatshirt.
“Please don’t die,” Annie whispered. She pressed harder on the wound. She could feel the ghost behind her. She looked back at the old school building, expecting to see the swirling dark shadow. Empty windows stared back at her.

K.R. Conway's UNDERTOW Book Blitz

(Undertow #1)
Release Date: 10/18/13

Summary from Goodreads:
Luckless Eila is unknowingly the last of her kind: Rare. Gifted. Breakable. Stunning Raef is her kind's historic enemy: Soulless. Lethal. Lost. A legendary death 160 years before would set their lives to collide, forcing a beautiful killer to become a savior, a simple wallflower to become a warrior, and ruthless destiny to become a death sentence.

High school senior Eila Walker knows that good luck skips over her like an Easter Bunny on Speed. So when she inherits her grandmother's million-dollar Cape Cod home, she is downright shocked. And yeah, her new town isn't perfect: the cheerleaders are heinous clones, the local undertow can kill ya, and her Great Grams was supposedly fried by lightning in the harbor square. Still, Eila is hopeful her luckless days are in the past . . . until history decides to repeat itself.

A self-proclaimed loner and previous-social reject, Eila thinks she's hit the jackpot when drool-worthy Raef O’Reilly becomes her friendly, yet weirdly protective shadow. But being hauled beneath the waves by an unnatural undertow slams the brakes on bliss – especially when Raef storms to her aid with coal-black eyes and iron-like strength.

Eila, entirely freaked, demands an explanation and Raef comes clean, revealing that neither of them are average humans but rather the genetic remnants of an angelic pissing-match gone wrong. Eila supposedly can channel the power of human souls, while Raef is quite adept at stealing them. Even worse, the legend about her ancestor isn't such a myth, since Eila’s grandmother was one kick-ass warrior until her lightning-like power backfired. A power that is written all over Eila's DNA.

Now sought by Raef’s own family for her destructive ability, Eila must trust him to watch her back. But when a quest for information goes terribly wrong, Eila is suddenly left with only two options: become a weapon for the enemy or follow in her Gram’s fearless footsteps to save those she loves. Unfortunately she needs a willing enemy to ignite her suicidal energy and the only one she trusts has been guarding her butt and scorching her lips.

Five weeks ago, I nearly killed the girl I loved.
It wasn't an accident. It wasn't a mistake.
I did it deliberately, and the feeling of her body weakening in my arms haunts me still, as if branded into my hands. The sound of her last, thin breath replays over and over in my mind, a taunting reminder of what I am capable of and what I had done.
She carries the mark of where I had forced a stolen soul into her - a thin, finger-long scar engraved between her breasts.
She tries to hide it, but I know it's there.
She will carry that scar to her grave, a permanent reminder of who I truly am - a killer, designed by the darker hand of fate.
The scar had bled down her beautiful, fair skin that night, turning the bodice of the white ball gown she had worn into a sickening, mottled pink. In my mind I see her, lifeless, tucked under me as I try to shield her from the pieces of falling stone and wood that rain down around us. Debris that was from the massive hole her energy had drilled through the Breakers. Energy that was unleashed when her body switched to overload, and her DNA hit the self-destruct button because of me.

About the Author
I have been a journalist for 15 years and serve on the Board of Directors for the Cape Cod Writers Center. I also drive a 16-ton school bus because I am ENTIRELY NUTS.

In addition to working jobs that should come with a warning label , I hold a BA in Psychos (Forensic Psych), torment the tourists about Jaws, and occasionally jump from the Town Neck bridge in an attempt to reclaim my youth.

I live on Cape Cod with two smallish humans who apparently are my kids, my fishing-obsessed husband, two canines (adept at both flatulence and snoring), and a cage-defiant lovebird that sleeps in a miniature tent. Nope - that's not a type-o. The bird is quite the indoor camper.

Available at: Amazon
The phone rang again and I immediately thought of Janie. My heart popped up through my throat and caught on a breath. She was here though, right next to me. Safe. Her face still red and covered in dried, crusty tears.
I fumbled for the cordless.
“Liza, it’s me. I’m…” he hesitated, probably waiting to hear if I would say Who? or maybe, Which one? “I’m outside your house. Meet me downstairs?”
“Right now?” I shouted more than I’d meant to. My head pulsed in alarm, and a soft groan escaped Janie’s lips. I took a deep breath. “It’s like, eleven,” I whispered, more calm now.
“Yeah, I’m out in my car. I…I need to see you.”
Janie murmured and shifted as I got out of bed. I’d have to fight her for a spot when I got back. Or I could just suck it up, grab a quilt out of the closet, and sleep on the floor.
Outside, the air chilled right through my flimsy pajamas and pricked my bare skin. I tucked Dad’s oversized U of M sweatshirt I found on the back of the couch around my shivering body. My breath made these little pockets of fog in the air as I tiptoed across the frost-covered lawn to the street. The houses that mirrored mine on all sides stood quiet.
I slipped into the passenger seat and turned to him.
“Hey,” he said.
“Did I wake you?” His hair was on the messy side as if he’d run his hands through it a thousand times.
“Yeah, a little. I mean, yeah, you woke me. Janie spent the night.”
He nodded and stared straight through me. I’d never seen that look before. It swept into my brain, muddling things. He leaned over, grabbed the back of my head, and brought my mouth to his.
It was soft and sweet. Emotions tangled in and out of our lips. Everything left unsaid and undone conveyed in the span of a few moments. It should be like taking a long walk through a beautiful garden, floated through my scattered thoughts. It wasn’t exactly like that, but it was nice. It was good. It was…pointless.
I stood on the curb and waved until the taillights turned at the end of the block. I made the decision then on that short trek back to my room. I knew what I wanted. Now I just had to figure out how to tell everyone.
